Centerium Country Club

Under its PGA Design Consulting (PGADC) brand, IDG was entrusted with the design and construction oversight of a remarkable 27-hole championship golf course nestled in the mountainous terrain near Seoul, South Korea. This project presented an intricate design challenge due to stringent local regulations and the steep, rugged topography, but the result is a golf course that ranks among the most breathtaking in the world.

The course is ingeniously arranged into three returning loops of nine holes, offering operational flexibility and maximizing appeal to corporate members. The layout spans two expansive valleys and a plateau mountain top, each creating its own distinct golfing experience.

A key engineering feature of the site is the advanced drainage system, which efficiently manages water flow from both the golf course and the surrounding mountains. All drainage water is channeled to a large reservoir at the base of the property. This reservoir is also home to a stunning 9-meter-high waterfall, with a split-level green perched at its summit—widely considered the course’s signature hole. Another standout is the spectacular 15th hole, which plays across a dramatic 40-meter-deep ravine. This hole was further enhanced when the client transplanted two magnificent specimen trees from his personal garden to frame the scene.

The course’s impressive clubhouse has hosted major events and conferences, underscoring the venue’s versatility and prestige.

As part of its role, IDG provided end-to-end technical project management, acting as development director and leading a diverse international design team. The scope of services included detailed golf course and landscape design as well as pre-opening consultancy, ensuring the course’s seamless execution and exceptional quality.
